Lose Belly Fat Tips

By Michelle Casey

Being a personal trainer and group exercise instructor, I'm always the sames questions and hear the same statements regarding their stubborn belly fat. My clients exercise diligently for months and stick to a low calorie diet, but they still have a problem getting rid of the fat around their mid-section. Then they come to me...

Abdominal fat is different that the fat that lies just underneath the skin. Abdominal fat (also known as visceral fat) is found inside the abdominal cavity where it basically covers the organs. What really blows about abdominal fat is that regular aerobic cardiovascular exercise will not touch it. Hearing this may not be music to your ears, but simply exercises and cutting out calories is not enough. If you are serious about losing your belly fat, your exercise routine and diet will need to be completely overhauled.

Now, the first step towards losing belly fat is to eliminate foods that bring toxins into the body. Scientists haven't really figured out why belly fat is made by the body, but they think it is related to the toxic foods being eaten on a daily basis. The foods in questions always contain some form of highly refined sugars and carbohydrates.

Visceral fat itself is toxic, so it is thought that maybe the fat acts as a shield to keep toxins from doing direct damage to the organs. Unfortunately the fat isn't trapping toxins and keeping them there; it is releasing them back into the blood stream (sigh).

Removing certain kinds of food--namely those that contain highly refined sugars and carbohydrates--is the best way to clean up your diet. A clean diet will cut out all foods that introduce toxins into your body, where they can be transformed into abdominal fat.

The second step towards getting rid of stubborn belly fat is to add short bursts of energy, called high-intensity interval training drills (HIIT for short). HIIT is the only kind of cardiovascular activity that can target your belly fat. I'm not saying not to do regular aerobic exercises, but you need to add HIIT into your regular exercise schedule.

A diet free of highly refined carbohydrates and sugars, along with HIIT exercises is the only way you will lose belly fat. Anaerobic cardio (fancy name for HIIT) will chip away at abdominal fat, while eating a clean diet will keep new fat from being made.
